Culturally Obsessed & MUSE TV got a sneak peek at the first episode of season 17 of The Voice. Season 17 of The Voice premieres Monday, September 23rd (8 pm-10 pm ET/PT) on NBC. Keep your eyes out for our recap of the first episode of the Blind Auditions! We don’t want to give away any spoilers, but we think fans will love the momentum of season 17. Of course, this year rock goddess Gwen Stefani reclaims her red chair alongside superstar coaches Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and Blake Shelton. As in previous seasons, there are five stages of the competition. The first stage begins with the Blind Auditions, then the Battle Rounds, Knockouts, Playoffs and, finally, the Live Performance Shows.

Last week, NBC revealed that Taylor Swift will serve as the Mega Mentor and prepare each team for the Knockout Rounds, which will begin airing in late October. During the Knockout Rounds, the artists will be paired with a teammate and select their own songs to perform individually. Taylor will be on hand to work with all four coaches and their teams to provide feedback, suggestions, and praise as the artists prepare for their performance. Taylor was Mega Mentor once before during season 7 of The Voice. During season 16’s finale Taylor performed her chart-topping single “ME!” featuring Brendon Urie of Panic! At the Disco.

Season 17’s premiere episode will be our first look at the season’s potential talent during the Blind Auditions. The Blind Auditions are always a fan favorite since the decisions from the musician coaches are based solely on voice and not on looks. The coaches hear the artists perform, but they don’t get to see them, thanks to rotating chairs. If a coach is impressed by the artist’s voice, he/she pushes a button to select the artist for his/her team. The real fun begins if more than one coach turns their chair around. Then they have to persuade the contestant to come on their team. Make sure to tune into NBC tonight for the premiere episode!

The Voice airs on NBC Mondays at 8/7c and Tuesdays at 9/8c

[…] Season 17 of The Voice is jam-packed with such talented contestants, it’s getting increasingly difficult to see contestants get eliminated. This week Shane Q from Team Kelly and Myracle Holloway from Team Gwen were in the bottom two. Shane Q sang one of his best performances of the season with “Jealous.” Myracle followed with an absolutely beautiful rendition of “You Are So Beautiful.” During the commercial break, the results from the live votes for the instant save rolled in. Shane beat Myracle with 53% of the vote versus Myracle 47%. “In no world should either one of you be leaving,” Shane’s coach, Kelly Clarkson told them. Gwen Stefani added, “Last night, you were absolutely flawless. Just like Kelly said, you deserve to be here. You are unbelievable, you are magic. And thank you. Thanks for letting me work with you.” […]
