Culturally Obsessed’s Jennifer Ortega recently spoke with Harvey Guillèn of the FX Emmy-nominated comedy “What We Do in the Shadows”. As the show goes into its third season, Guillén continues his role as Guillermo de la Cruz. For his groundbreaking performance on Shadows, Harvey earned a Critics’ Choice Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor which made LGBTQ+ Latinx history by becoming the first queer Latinx actor to be nominated in this category. “What We Do in the Shadows” is returning for its third season on Thursday, September 2 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

Guillén has appeared on a variety of television series and in recurring roles including Alistair Delgado on “Huge” (2010), Cousin Blobbin on “The Thundermans” (2013–2018), George Reyes in “Eye Candy” (2015), and Benedict Pickwick on “The Magicians” (2017–2018). Beginning in 2019, Guillén has played the role of Guillermo, the vampires’ human familiar, in the FX television series “What We Do in the Shadows”. Guillén has received considerable acclaim for his role as Guillermo. TheWrap included Guillén in a list of “2019 Emmy Contenders.
“What We Do in the Shadows” is based on the feature film by Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi and documents the nightly exploits of vampire roommates Nandor (Kayvan Novak), Nadja (Natasia Demetriou), Laszlo (Matt Berry), and Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch) as they navigate the modern world of Staten Island with the help of their human familiar, Guillermo (Harvey Guillén).
