Culturally Obsessed and Muse TV were recently invited to visit the set of David Del Rio’s new horror film, Road Head. The film just finished production so most of the details are still under wraps, but we were given exclusive interviews by the cast & crew. The film stars Elizabeth Grullon (Stephanie), Damian Joseph Quinn (Alex), Clayton Farris & Clay Acker (David) as friends who take a road trip along the Mojave Desert only to encounter the Executioner (Adam Nemet) and other members of a murderous cult. During our interview I think Adam Nemet (Executioner) really encapsulated his character brilliantly by calling him “The Guardian of the Desert.”
Most people are already familiar with David Del Rio because of his extensive acting career including Grease Live!, The Belko Experiment and The Troop. But he also quickly becoming a director to watch. Last year he debuted his first full length feature, the fantastically macabre, Sick for Toys. For his second feature he teamed up again with writer Justin Xavier. Producers David Gunning & Jon Paul Burkhart also have preciously worked with David Del Rio in Sick for Toys. They each our talented in their own rights and I am so happy to see them all working with each other again.
I drove out to the set in Barstow, Ca with Culturally Obsessed’s David Peralta. We met producer David Gunning on the side of a desert road and followed his car until we reached set. The location is perfect for a horror film. It was very windy and dusty and inherently just an eerie setting to begin with. The day we visited the set they were in the middle of shooting car stunts. In between scenes we were able to talk to Elizabeth Grullon, Damian Quinn, Clay Acker and Adam Nemet about working on the film and the importance of having a strong female POC as the protagonist as well main LGBTQ characters. We also spoke with producers David Gunning and Jon Paul Burkhart about their continued work relationship with David Del Rio. It was quite an exciting day! There was even a small and fastly extinguished fire during our interview with David Gunning. By the time we left it was pitch black and if I wasn’t driving with Culturally Obsessed’s David, I’m sure I’d still be lost in the desert somewhere.
After speaking with the cast and crew and visiting the set, I cannot wait to see Road Head! Check out our interviews with the cast and crew below!
