As part of our continued coverage of Screamfest 2019, MUSE TV & Culturally Obsessed’s Jennifer Ortega attended the North American premiere of Rabid at the TCL Chinese Theater. Two truly iconic women filmmakers, Jen & Sylvia Soska, directed the film. The Soska Sisters, also known as the Twisted Twins, first gained notice after their debut feature film Dead Hooker in a Trunk. The film was only made for $2500 and received positive reviews. The Sisters went on to create many horror favorites including, American Mary and Vendetta.
Rabid is the newest feature written (along with John Serge ) and directed by Jen & Sylvia Soska. The film is a retelling of the 1977 film of the same name by David Cronenberg. The film stars Laura Vandervoort as Rose, a woman that works in the fashion industry and aspires to be a designer. After a car accident, her face is extremely disfigured. Rose takes an experimental treatment that works miracles. Unfortunately, it does not come without a price. The film also stars C.M. Punk, Tristan Risk, Ted Atherton, and Stephen Huszar.
Jennifer spoke with the Soska Sisters, Tristan Risk, musician Kevvy Metal and composer Claude Foisy at the premiere.
